This shop's location changes every night, and if you're lucky you might find it even without visiting the Theatre. If you choose to view it, it will reveal the location of the Dead Item Shop on the map. It is entirely optional, but interesting. The Pantomime is a production that happens at the Theatre, which gives some additional flavour to the events of the day (or foreshadows upcoming events). Several special interactions take place only at night, the most important being the Pantomime, and the Dead Item Store. Town guardsmen will continue patrolling at night. As night falls, the streets become littered with thugs who will attack on sight. Townsfolk (non-named NPCs) mill around during the day to converse and trade with. Shops and most important NPCs can be interacted with all day and night, though sometimes NPCs are unavailable during night, generally this will relate to a particular time-sensitive quest. It is necessary to be efficient in planning your daily excursions. Most of the game is spent walking/sprinting from location to location, and this eats up the majority of your time. Throughout the game you will be given quests that are time sensitive, though you rarely know when the deadline is due, and you will not be able to complete all your objectives. Thus, days begins at dawn, night begins at midnight. The game states that its story takes place over twelve days, with each 24-hours split into daytime and nighttime. Additionally, I have also covered inventory management, combat, the plague and the treatment of your wards. It is predominantly an immersive sim where you need to manage resources, the most important of these being time, the town's economy, health, exhaustion, hunger, and immunity. Pathologic 2 is a game about fighting a plague that is ravaging a small Russian steppe town in the 19th century. Obviously, if you're interested in discovering game mechanics by yourself, don't read this. I've done my best to avoid any form of plot spoiler, using only references to "late-game" or "mid-game". Having said that, I'm reading about a lot of new players getting stuck in no-win situations, and getting very frustrated as a result, so I made this guide summarising what I've learnt about the mechanics of this town, to help you survive and not waste precious time. One of the most compelling parts of the game (and all Ice Pick Lodge games) is the feeling of being dropped into a mysterious and hostile world, and slowly coming to understand how it all works. Having played through P1's Bachelor, I was already fairly knowledgeable about the town and how it worked, which gave me a huge advantage. I've just finished P2 on my first playthrough, with 25 deaths.
